Signs It's Time

Why Replace Your Windows?

Old windows work against you every day — higher energy bills, less comfort, and a home that looks tired. Here's what to watch for.

Drafts & Cold Spots

If you feel cold air near your windows in winter — even with them closed — the seals have failed or the frames have warped. Drafts can account for up to 30% of your home's heat loss.

Condensation & Frost

Moisture or ice forming between the panes means the sealed unit has failed and the insulating gas has escaped. That window is no longer doing its job thermally.

High Energy Bills

Windows are responsible for up to 35% of home heat loss in Alberta. If your heating costs have climbed, your windows may be a major contributor — and replacing them is one of the fastest payback upgrades available.

Hard to Operate

Windows that stick, won't latch properly, or no longer lock are a daily frustration and a security concern. Swollen or warped frames are also a sign that moisture has infiltrated the assembly.

Curb Appeal

Yellowed frames, peeling paint, and foggy glass drag down your home's first impression and its resale value. New windows are one of the highest-return exterior upgrades you can make.

Outside Noise

Single-pane or failed dual-pane windows offer almost no acoustic barrier. Triple-pane windows with laminated glass significantly reduce traffic, wind, and neighbourhood noise inside your home.

Triple-Pane Performance

Built for Alberta Winters

Alberta doesn't have mild winters — and your windows shouldn't be a weak point. Durabuilt triple-pane windows use two chambers of argon or krypton gas between three panes of glass, delivering thermal performance that keeps your home genuinely comfortable from October through April.

Year-round installation: Our crews install through Alberta winters, down to -15°C. The existing window is removed for only 5–10 minutes — the new window goes straight in. Your home stays warm.

EasyClean+ Glass Technology

Glass looks smooth, but it's actually made up of microscopic peaks and valleys where dust, water, and grime get lodged — causing hazing, yellowing, and constant cleaning.

Durabuilt's EasyClean+ fills in those peaks and valleys, creating a smooth, seamless surface that repels contaminants from the start. The result is crystal-clear glass that stays cleaner longer and resists general aging over the lifetime of your windows.

  • Reduces cleaning time by up to 90%
  • Protects against moisture, dust, scum, and debris
  • Prevents hazing, yellowing, and general aging
  • Crystal-clear performance guaranteed for the life of your windows

Ask us about adding EasyClean+ to your window package during your free quote visit.

90%
Less Cleaning Time

Standard glass traps dirt in microscopic surface crevices. EasyClean+ seals them — water sheets off, dust doesn't stick, and your windows stay clear with a fraction of the effort.

Durabuilt Alpha & Omega Series

Window Styles We Install

Two series, same universal monoframe — mix and match any style seamlessly. Alpha is Durabuilt's smooth sliding line; Omega is the swing-away casement and awning line. Both are engineered for Canadian climate performance.

Casement windows on brick home Omega Series

Casement

Hinged on one side, cranks open outward for maximum ventilation. Compresses against the frame when closed for an exceptional air-seal — one of the tightest available in residential windows. Ideal for hard-to-reach locations above counters or sinks.

Slider

One or both sashes glide horizontally on a track. The Alpha Slider offers clean sightlines and a low-profile frame. A practical choice for wide openings, basement windows, and contemporary home styles where a simple operating mechanism is preferred.

2-Lite Slider 3-Lite Slider

Picture / Fixed

Non-opening windows that maximize the glass area within a given opening. No moving parts means the best possible thermal performance and the largest unobstructed view. Frequently combined with operable units (casements, sliders) on either side.

Fixed Picture Combination Units
Awning window installation Omega Series

Awning

Hinged at the top, opens outward and upward — the raised sash acts like an awning, letting air in while keeping rain out. An ideal ventilation window for bathrooms, kitchens, and below-grade applications. Can remain open even in light rain.

Single Awning Stacked Awning
Bay window on residential home Alpha & Omega Series

Bay & Bow

A bay window projects out from the wall with three angled panels; a bow uses a gentle curve of four or more units. Both add interior floor space, flood the room with light from multiple angles, and create an architectural focal point both inside and out.

Single hung windows on brick home Alpha Series

Single Hung

The upper sash is fixed; the lower sash slides up to ventilate. A classic, economical profile that suits traditional and craftsman-style homes. The Alpha Single Hung tilts inward for easy interior cleaning — a practical advantage in two-storey applications.

When You Want the Best Thermal Performance Available

The Durabuilt Delta Series is a premium fiberglass window system for homeowners who want the highest performance available in a slim, refined profile. Fiberglass is stronger than steel by weight and expands and contracts at virtually the same rate as glass — so seals stay tight and operation stays smooth through Alberta's most extreme temperature swings. Foam-filled profiles make Delta Passive House and Net Zero ready.

  • Thinner frames, bigger glass — fiberglass strength allows larger windows with slimmer sightlines
  • Stainless steel Roto® X-Drive HD hardware on every casement and awning — rated for sash up to 150 lb
  • 21 finishes plus realistic Woodec wood-look options — with split interior/exterior finish capability
  • EasyClean+ glass standard — scratch-resistant, crystal-clear coating guaranteed for life
  • Commercial-grade ratings — Performance Grades up to CW-PG70, triple-pane up to 5 mm glass

Common Questions

Window Replacement FAQ

The Energy Rating (ER) is a Canadian performance metric that combines a window's heat loss (U-factor), solar heat gain (SHGC), and air leakage into a single number. A higher ER is better. For ENERGY STAR Zone 3 (Alberta), windows must achieve a minimum ER of 34. High-performance triple-pane windows often reach ER 40–50+. In a heating-dominated climate like Southern Alberta's, a high ER means less heat escaping and lower natural gas bills — particularly from October through April.
Most whole-home replacements (10–15 windows) are completed in a single day. Our crew works through openings one at a time — each old window is removed, and the new one is installed and sealed before moving on, so no opening is ever left exposed for more than 5–10 minutes. Larger projects or homes with difficult access (high or hard-to-reach openings) may span two days. We provide a clear timeline before booking.
Yes. We install year-round and regularly work through Alberta winters. Our crews are set up to work down to approximately -15°C. Because each opening is only exposed for 5–10 minutes while the new window is installed, the impact on your home's temperature is minimal — most clients report barely noticing. Below -15°C, sealants and caulks can struggle to cure properly, which is why we use that as our cold-weather threshold.
Alpha Series is Durabuilt's smooth sliding line — Slider, Single Hung, and Picture windows. Engineered for effortless horizontal operation with a sturdy, air and watertight design. A practical, high-value choice for straightforward openings.

Omega Series is Durabuilt's swing-away line — Casement, Awning, Picture, Bay, and Bow. Casement-style windows swing open for exceptional ventilation and compress against the frame when closed, providing a tighter air seal than sliding windows and slightly higher ER ratings.

Delta Series is Durabuilt's premium fiberglass line. Foam-filled fiberglass frames, slim sightlines, more glass per opening, and outstanding long-term dimensional stability. The highest-performance option and the best choice for maximizing glass area in premium builds or renovations.

Both Alpha and Omega are built on the same universal monoframe design — meaning you can seamlessly mix and match window types throughout your home for a consistent, clean look.
Durabuilt windows are made-to-order in Canada. After you approve and sign your written quote, your windows go into production. Current lead time is typically 5–7 weeks from signed quote to installation day. We'll give you the specific production estimate at quote time. Once your windows arrive at our shop, we contact you to schedule the installation at a time that works for you.
Someone over 18 needs to be present at the start of the day to let the crew in, confirm the scope, and be available for any questions. You don't need to supervise the work — our crews work independently and professionally. We do ask that someone be reachable by phone throughout the day. At the end of the project, we'll walk through every window with you before we pack up.
